Pepe came to Menorca to do a job for Gesa and stayed at the Hostal Roca, where he met Luisa, daughter of Xec and Margarita, who worked helping in the kitchen and cleaning the rooms, and as if it were a movie, a beautiful love story arose, which forced Pepe to stay in Menorca and become part of the family of the Hostal Roca.
Pepe was in charge of serving in the Hostal's dining room and also helped in the family's vegetable garden, as well as driving the Hostal's buses.
Luisa, daughter of Xec and Margarita is the youngest of the family and together with her brother helped in all the tasks of the Hostal, especially helped her mother in the kitchen from whom she inherited the enthusiasm for cooking and the good work in the kitchen. She was a hardworking woman who never lacked a smile to welcome her customers and treat them as if they were one of the family, she served them so well that many customers called her "Mamá Luisa".

After Xec's death, the Roca Hostel was divided in two, one part for Luisa and the other for her brother. Luisa was forced, much to her regret, to change the name of the hostel to HOSTAL LA ISLA, which is the current name of the hostel.
Paco, son of Luisa and Pepe, currently runs the Hostal La Isla being the third generation of the business started by his grandfather Xec. Paco since he took over the business always had the concern to recover the original name of the hostel, and so it was with his wife Belen came the idea of opening a small hotel in a house owned by the family located in the same neighborhood where the HOSTAL ROCA was born. And so was born the current hotel CAN ROCA NOU, a hotel that tries to transmit to its guests the values of familiarity, friendship and conplicity that Paco learned from his grandparents and parents.

Xec was an enterprising person, he was the first person who brought buses to Menorca. Then he became interested in the hotel business. He set up his first hotel in Punta Prima, but the bankruptcy of a tour operator forced him to close the business. He did not give up and bought a bar in the neighborhood 'Ses Tanques del Carme' and this is where HOSTAL ROCA was born. At the beginning it was only a bar and he, little by little, was building floors over the bar until he built three floors and turned that neighborhood bar into a hostel. Xec was characterized by the way he treated his customers, making them feel like part of his family. He always said: I don't consider them customers, I consider them friends passing through with a return ticket.
Margarita is the other architect of the birth of HOSTAL ROCA, she was in charge of satisfying the appetite of all the people who stayed at the hostel, magnificent cook delighted the guests with typical recipes of Menorca and with products that came from the orchard that the family had in Sant LLuis, endearing woman did not let any customer stay hungry and always walked around the dining room of the hostel inviting the guests to repeat, she was also in charge of cleaning the rooms.
